It has been revealed that actor Mayu Hotta and Kyohei Takahashi from the popular group Naniwa Danshi will be appearing in the second episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama " Mikami Sensei " (Sundays at 9pm), starring actor Tori Matsuzaka Matsuzaka, which aired on January 26th.
Hotta plays Mayama Yuzuru, the murderer who committed the murder at the National Civil Service Examination, and it is revealed when Mikami (Matsuzaka) visits him at the detention center. Yuzuru is the daughter of Saejima Yuko (Tokiwa Takako), who was effectively fired from her job after Kanzaki Takuto ( Daiken Okudaira ) exposed an affair between two teachers in the Rintoku Newspaper about a year before Mikami was assigned to Rintoku Academy. The true purpose of Yuzuru's murder will be revealed in the future.
Hotta will be appearing in Sunday Theatre for the first time since "Anti-Hero" (2024). She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 120th The Television Drama Academy Awards for the same work, and the Best Newcomer award at the 45th Yokohama Film Festival and the Newcomer award at the 2024 Elan d'or Awards for the movie "Baka Nuri no Musume" (2023). It will be interesting to see how Hotta, who is highly regarded for her acting skills, will play the murderer.
Takahashi also appeared as a mysterious young man who picked up a weekly magazine he had dropped in a busy downtown area on a rainy day and stared gravely at the headline about a murder case. It is still a mystery whether he has any connection to the case or how he will be involved in the story.
After debuting as a member of the Naniwa Danshi, Takahashi starred in the film But Chiki-kun is Too Sweet (2023), and appeared in the TV drama My Home Hero (2023) and the film adaptation of the same work (2024). This will be his first appearance in a primetime drama series in "Mikami Sensei."
With the release of the cast, the web-exclusive visual, which is made up of the actors surrounding Mikami Sensei, has revealed the entire picture as the blacked-out parts have been made public.
The drama is an original "great reversal story of education revival" in which Takashi Mikami (played by Matsuzaka), a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, who wants to change the Japanese education system, takes to the podium at a private high school and stands up to authority while guiding 18-year-old high school students living in the Reiwa era.
