Singer Junnosuke Taguchi appeared on the second episode of Abema's variety show "Hyena of Love Season 3," which aired on January 21. He looked back on his arrest five years ago, which caused a stir in the public.
Speaking at Tokyo Bayside Police Station (Koto Ward), Taguchi said, "This is the first time I've spoken since my arrest five years ago," and recounted his interactions with drug enforcement officers who came to his home at the time of his arrest.
"I thought it was all over," he confessed of his thoughts on the way to the police station in a police vehicle, "It was right before the national tour." He also made headlines by kneeling when he was released on bail, but he said, "Above all, it was right before the tour. We were scheduled to perform at about 14 locations around the country, so I felt sorry for the fans and staff, which led me to kneel."
When asked why he started using marijuana, he replied, "It was just out of curiosity," and "I didn't think it was such a bad thing," and confessed, "If I hadn't been arrested, I might still be doing it now."
Regarding his relationship with his family after his arrest, he confessed, "I knew that my son being arrested would be looked upon coldly by society, and that was the trigger for me to cut off all ties with them." He revealed that he had "no contact whatsoever" with his family, but added, "After my arrest, the people who supported me, cheered me on, and those around me changed drastically. There were good encounters as well as good farewells."
When asked if he is currently dating anyone, Taguchi smiled and said, "It's a secret." When asked further, "Is your current girlfriend the same as your girlfriend at the time of your arrest?" he replied with a meaningful smile, "It's a secret."
