Yamada Heiando, a lacquerware specialty store, has started selling "Pokemon Zodiac Small Bowls". Each bowl is individually painted by a craftsman using Makie (lacquer lacquer) to depict a Pokemon character, and comes in three designs: Pikachu, Arbok, and Dragonite. The price is 16,500 yen.
The "Pokemon Zodiac Bowl" is a lacquerware made of natural wood with the traditional technique of Maki-e. The craftsmen use lacquer to faithfully draw the Pokemon on the outline, and the entire process is done by hand. The bowl is made of wood with excellent insulating properties, so even if you put hot food in it, the heat is not easily transferred, making it safe for children to use.
The product is available in two colors, black and vermilion, and is 10cm in diameter and 6.3cm in height. It comes with a "Baby Spoon" made of natural wood with a lacquer coating that is gentle on the mouth. There is also an option to have your name engraved (up to six characters) using Maki-e. Zodiac bowls with designs of Pokemon other than Pikachu, Arbok, and Dragonite are scheduled to be released in the future. They can be purchased from the Yamada Heiando official online shop, but the sale at noon on the 17th has already sold out. The next sale will start at noon on January 31st.
