On January 16th, it was revealed that the outdoor live performance "THE BIG GIG" held by the rock band "Kai Band" in 1983 at Toyo No. 5 Site (currently the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building), surrounded by skyscrapers in the Shinjuku subcenter, will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW in April. It was a legendary live performance that attracted about 30,000 people, including those who watched from the sidewalks and windows of buildings.
At the time, the only way to hold a large-scale outdoor concert was to rent a baseball stadium or use a resort facility at the foot of a mountain or on a lake outside the city. It was unusual to use a venue in the middle of a city, especially in a place that is usually deserted, as a concert venue.
WOWOW will broadcast and stream the outdoor live performance held on August 7, 1983, titled "Kai Band 'THE BIG GIG'" in April. The songs are as follows:

Also, in March, they will broadcast and stream "Kai Band 'Documentary of TOUR CIRCUS & CIRCUS 2019'," a documentary that closely follows the band's first live house tour, which took place in July and August 2019, the 45th anniversary of the band's formation.
WOWOW has been running a series of special programs for over a year since November last year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Kai Band last year. The February special programs are as follows (all broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand):
"Kai Band Symphony" (February 11th, 1:30pm) - A live performance held on November 15th, 2014 at Tokyo International Forum Hall A (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo); "Kai Band THE BIG GIG AGAIN 2016" (same day, 3:45pm) - A live performance held on August 7th, 2016 at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall (same ward) in an attempt to recreate 1983's "THE BIG GIG"; "Comprehensive Analysis! Kai Band THE BIG GIG AGAIN 2016 Expanded Version" (same day, 6pm) - An introduction to the highlights of the 2016 performance at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, which recreated the legendary live performance.
