It has been announced that a sequel series to the anime Dorohedoro, based on the manga by Q Hayashida, will be released in 2025. This will be the first sequel in about five years since the TV anime aired in 2020. It was also announced that Yuichiro Hayashi will be directing the series, following on from the previous work, and that MAPPA will be producing it. To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the TV anime broadcast, the second teaser visual was also released, featuring storyboards from the sequel and expressing a chaotic worldview.
Director Hayashi commented, "We've kept everyone waiting for a very long time, but the Dorohedoro anime is finally back! It's even more chaotic, anarchic, and slasher than last time! It's powered up. If you haven't seen Dorohedoro yet, or think it sounds scary, you still have time before it starts streaming! Be sure to watch the previous season and step into this comical, chaotic world!"
"Dorohedoro" is a dark fantasy about a man who loses his memory and whose head is transformed into a lizard by magic, and tries to regain his true face and memories. It was serialized in manga magazines such as "IKKI," "HiBana," and "Gessan" (Shogakukan) from 2000 to 2018. The TV anime aired from January to March 2020.
