It was revealed on January 8th that actor and figure skater Miyu Honda will star in the film "Kisaragi Station Re:" (directed by Nagae Jiro), scheduled for release in early summer 2025. The film is a sequel to "Kisaragi Station", which was released in 2022. In the previous film, Honda played Miyazaki Asuka, a high school girl who gets lost in Kisaragi Station in another world, and she will continue to play the role of Asuka in this film. A teaser visual and stills were also released.

"Kisaragi Station" is based on an urban legend also known as a "modern version of Spirited Away," in which a woman calling herself "Hasumi" posted her experience of arriving at a station in another world called "Kisaragi Station," which does not exist in this world, on the anonymous internet message board "2chan" in real time on January 8, 2004. However, the posts eventually stopped and the woman went missing.

In the previous film, Tsutsumi Haruna (Tsunematsu Yuri), a female university student studying folklore, decides to make "Kisaragi Station" the topic of her graduation thesis and successfully makes contact with a woman named Hayama Junko (Sato Eriko), who was believed to be "Hasumi," the person who posted "Kisaragi Station."

Hayama is a former high school teacher who went missing on his way home from school in 2004 and was found seven years later. However, he felt responsible for not being able to return Asuka (Honda), who had been with him in the other world, to her original world. Haruna listens to Junko's story, but her encounter with her greatly changes Haruna's fate. Meanwhile, Asuka is finally able to return to the real world, but...

The story of this latest installment, "Kisaragi Station Re:," is set three years after the previous film, when Asuka returned.
