Keiko Takahashi:Her husband, Tomoaki Takahashi, a former "fierce" director, is madly in love with his grandchildren and dogs. He revealed his new job at age 83 on "Tetsuko's Room."

Actor Keiko Takahashi appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on January 7th. She talked about her husband, film director Tomoaki Takahashi, spending time with their first grandchild and their pet dog, as well as her own career change.

When her first grandchild turned 20, she went out drinking with her husband. "That must be nice. Being able to drink with your grandchild," Takahashi said with a laugh. Her first grandchild also likes alcohol and Japanese food, so she said, "It would be a great help to me if the two of them could drink and eat together."

Her first grandchild is now 21 and will make his debut in a film due for release this summer. The film is directed by her husband, and she herself makes a brief appearance towards the end. "I was a little nervous and wondered if it would be okay, but I'm glad it ended safely and well," she said, smiling, "I'm really surprised that my grandson will be appearing in the same film."

He is thinking about changing jobs at the age of 83. "Because I was born Japanese, I want to learn about Japanese culture and share it with people from Japan and overseas," he says. Furthermore, as an actor, he has always spoken lines, so he is enthusiastic about "doing something where I can express what I think in my own words."

They have one cat and four dogs, including beagles. Although it was her husband who said he wanted to have a dog, he said that his feet hurt, so she takes him for a walk every day. She said she never thought the day would come when her husband, who has been called the "demon Tomoe," dotes on dogs. "It seems like he wants to hold them. I guess we have an instinct to want to hold things we think are cute," she said.
