Continuation of interview (1). The original golf-themed TV anime "Sorairo Utility" will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, TV Kanagawa, MBS, BS Asahi and others from January 3rd. Aoba Minami, a high school freshman who is normal and average in every way, encounters golf while searching for something "special". This is a youth sports comedy based on the daily life of a teenager. Minami's daily life begins to change dramatically when she meets Akane Haruka, a genius golfer in her third year of high school, and Hoshimi Ayaka, an influencer in her third year of university. Takagi Miyu, the voice actress who plays Minami, said that she started playing golf after appearing in the show. We spoke to Takagi, Amami Yurina, who plays Akane Haruka, and Goto Ayasa, who plays Hoshimi Ayaka, about the appeal of the show and what goes on behind the scenes at the recording studios.
◇ Also pay attention to the veteran voice actors!
--What is something that you keep in mind when playing Minami?
Takagi Minami is innocent, expressive, and honest about her feelings. I tried not to let Minami get the better of me. Her tension range is large, and it's fun to act.
When I watched Goto-san and Miyu-san, I felt like they were feeling the same emotions as Minami-chan. They are very linked.
Amami-san has a wide range, so I sometimes wonder how far she should go, but Miyu is amazing. She has a lot of fun.
Takagi Minami, just when you think she's feeling down, she suddenly becomes cheerful.
Because Amami Minami is there, she has a bit of an older sister vibe to Ayaka and Haruka.
--It's also been a hot topic that veteran voice actors Kazuhiko Inoue, Kenyuu Horiuchi, and Toshiyuki Morikawa will be playing a trio of regulars at the golf driving range.
Takagi- san, everyone is amazing!
Amami: I was nervous at first. When the three of us get together, the aura is three times stronger! They're kind and funny. Their ad-libs were also amazing.
Even in scenes where everyone goes all out, like Takagi -san's special move, everyone does it in a different way, which is really cool. It's really interesting.
Goto: Each of you has a distinct personality.
◇The "special special" of the three
--When you were in high school, did you have anything special that was just for you?
Takagi-san: I started working as a voice actress when I was in high school. It was a tumultuous time, with us going to training camps and doing activities as a unit. Looking back now, my youth with everyone was separate from school, and it was very special.
Goto: I was a viewer who watched anime, so my encounter with anime was very special for me. I wanted to be a voice actor back then, and I watched the works that Miyu was in. It's strange to think that I'm now appearing in anime as a voice actor, and I wonder if I would be shocked if I knew back then. I have to work hard! That's what it would be like.
Amami: I didn't think it was special at the time, but my club activities were very special. When I was in high school, I was in the brass band club, but I thought to myself every day, "I'm going to quit!" I played an instrument for the first time in my first year of high school, and in my third year of high school, I was able to become a member of the competition. Looking back, those three years of high school that I was able to devote myself to club activities were special, and as I get older, I gradually start to feel grateful for them.
- Were you aiming to be a voice actor even back then?
Amami: I've been aiming to become a voice actor since I was in elementary school together with a childhood friend. She has also become a voice actor and is active in the industry. I think I started taking action when I was in my first year of high school.
I met Takagi-san at an audition when I was in my first year of high school. Before I knew it, we were in the same agency.
Amami: Exactly. We're currently appearing in a production together.
Takagi-san hasn't changed at all since then. I remember him talking to me. We're the same age!
"Sorairo Utility" is likely to be a new golf anime that is not just about sports. What is Minami's "special"? Please pay attention to it.
