Singer Iruka appeared with folk singer Minami Kousetsu at the rehearsal for the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen Gassen (general and other channels) held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo on December 29th. After being selected to perform at the Kouhaku, he revealed the surprising events that occurred.
This is Iruka's second time performing at Kohaku after a 32-year hiatus. "I was surprised and thought, 'Why me?' but I received flowers from my high school alumni association," she said, sounding surprised.
"Every day when I go to different places, I get greeted by people I don't even know, who say things like, 'Do your best.' I think that Kohaku is an important national event in Japan, so I hope I can deliver a little bit of love to everyone's living rooms," she said enthusiastically.
The 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast on December 31st from 7:20pm to 11:45pm (with some news breaks). Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, Sari Ito, and announcer Naoko Suzuki will be the hosts.
