The four-member band "HY" appeared at a rehearsal for the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen(General TV and others), held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo on December 28th.
This is HY's first appearance on Kohaku in 12 years. Hideyuki Niiza smiled and said, "(Kohaku) is special. You can't just raise your hand and perform there, and the fans who support us are happy, so we can give back. We can also give back to the people of our hometown, Okinawa."
He said that a banner celebrating their appearance in the Red and White Song Battle is hung at the city hall in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, and he expressed his gratitude for the local support, saying, "Everyone is rooting for us."
Regarding the song she will be singing, "366 Days," Nakasone Izumi said, "I think it has a strong image as a love song, and I sang it with that feeling when I performed. But then 3/11 happened, and I had the opportunity to sing in the disaster-stricken areas. I thought about how I should sing in front of people in the disaster-stricken areas, and this song allows me to sing thinking of people I will never see again. I would like to sing at Kohaku in a way that will reach everyone's souls."
The 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast on December 31st from 7:20pm to 11:45pm (with some news breaks). Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, Sari Ito, and announcer Naoko Suzuki will be the hosts.
