Friday Road Show (NTV, Friday 9pm) on January 10th will be broadcasting Studio Ghibli's "Howl's Moving Castle" (2004) uncut and with an extended 40 minutes. This hit film by director Hayao Miyazaki depicts "true love" and the wonder of life.
Sophie, an 18-year-old girl, is the eldest daughter and has been running the hat shop left to her by her late father, but this is not the life she wanted.
One day, in a town crowded with soldiers leaving for war, Sophie is harassed by a soldier. A beautiful young man who happens to be passing by lends her a helping hand. He uses his mysterious powers to fly up into the sky and invites Sophie to take a walk in the air. Sophie is captivated by this dreamlike event.
However, that night, Sophie is cursed by the "Witch of the Waste" who visits the shop and is transformed into a 90-year-old grandmother. Deciding that she can't live like this, Sophie makes up her mind to pack her bags and heads for the Waste, but the strangely shaped "Howl's Moving Castle" appears before her.
Starting next week, January 17th, Friday Road Show will be broadcasting the three climaxes of the "Harry Potter" series over three weeks. On the same day, they will be broadcasting an extended 30-minute episode of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009, USA).
