Singer Mami Ayukawa has released a self-cover album, "MamiSelf," to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her debut. In addition to her first self-covers of songs she provided to Miho Nakayama and Noriko Sakai in the 1980s and 1990s, the album also includes an a cappella version of her debut song, "Kaze no No Reply," the theme song for the TV anime "Heavy Metal L-Gaim."
To coincide with the release of the album, a 40th anniversary concert, "Ayukawa Mami 40th Anniversary Live ~MamiSelf~," will be held at Asakusa Hana Theater in Tokyo (Taito Ward) on May 10, 2025.
Ayukawa made her debut in 1984 with "Kaze no No Reply", the theme song for "Heavy Metal L-Gaim Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam", "Yumeiro Chaser", the theme song for the TV anime "Metal Armor Dragonar", and "Yume Miru Koro wo Sugitemo", a commercial song for House Foods.
