It has been announced that a new TV anime, "Masuda Kosuke Theater Gag Manga Biyori GO", based on Masuda Kosuke's popular comedy manga "Masuda Kosuke Theater Gag Manga Biyori" will be produced and will begin airing in April 2025. This will be the fifth time the series has been adapted into an anime, and the first in about 15 years since the fourth season, "Gag Manga Biyori +", aired in 2010. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the series' serialization, a new TV anime will be produced. It will be directed by Daichi Akitarou, known for "Sexy Command Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san" and produced by Studio Deen.
"Masuda Kosuke Theater Gag Manga Biyori GO" began serialization in the January 2000 issue of "Monthly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It is currently being serialized in "Jump Square" (same publisher).
The new anime will feature Prince Shotoku, Kawai Sora, Maeda Tsuyoshi as Kumakichi-kun, Takemoto Eiji as Ono no Imoko, Naito Rei as Matsuo Basho, and Sato Narumi as Usami-chan. Director Daichi, voice actors Maeda and Ono Kensho, Tetsuya Kanmuri who will be performing the ending theme, and Kumakichi-kun will appear at the stage event on December 22nd at Jump Festa 2025, which will be held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City).
It was also announced that an exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of the series, "Masuda Kosuke Theater Gag Manga Biyori 25th Anniversary Exhibition," will be held at the event space on the 8th floor of Yurakucho Marui (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) from January 10 to 26, 2025. The Osaka venue will also be the second event hall on the 4th floor of the Abeno Harukas Kintetsu Main Store Wing Building (Abeno-ku, Osaka) from February 27 to March 9, 2025.
