The sixth episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea" (Sunday 9pm) starring actor Ryunosuke Kamiki will be broadcast on December 1st. The drama's producer Junko Arai has "predicted" that it will be "the purest episode in the history of the show." The drama is a story of love, friendship and family set in Hashima (Gunkanjima) in Nagasaki Prefecture, which developed through coal mining from the beginning of the Meiji era to the postwar high economic growth period, and in modern-day Tokyo. It is written by Akiko Nogi, directed by Ayuko Tsukahara, and produced by Junko Arai, and is produced by the team behind the dramas "Unnatural" and "MIU404" (TBS) and the movie "The Last Mile." The sixth episode is set in 1963, the year before the Tokyo Olympics. While many coal mines are being forced to close, New Year's has come as usual on Hashima. Meanwhile, Asako (Hana Sugisaki), who is enthusiastic about her gardening club activities, shows Teppei (Kamiki) the potted plants she has been growing. Teppei is happy to see Asako looking happy. The two of them seem to be getting closer. Meanwhile, Kensho (Shimizu Hiroya) makes a decision and confides his feelings only to Teppei. Meanwhile, Shinpei (Saito Takumi) and Rina (Ikeda Elaiza) visit the Araki family. Since Kensho risked his life to save Rina from pursuers, the two have become closer and come to tell him a news. In the present day, Reo (Kamiki playing two roles) finds out that he and Izumi (Miyamoto Nobuko) are not related by blood and that Izumi's real name is "Asako". In order to find out the relationship between himself and Teppei, he decides to open up the 10 diaries left behind by Teppei. Then, he finds something like a "seed" in one of the diaries... and so the story unfolds. Regarding episode 6, Arai commented, "Episode 6, which takes place four years after episode 5, is the purest episode in the show's history. The characters, all harboring a variety of feelings, face their own feelings, make decisions, and take action. You'll find yourself cheering them on."
