A completely new work based on the masterpiece manga "COJI-COJI" by the late Sakura Momoko has started serialization in the December issue of the girls' manga magazine "Ribon" (Shueisha), released on November 1st. The original story and script for the anime that Sakura worked on while she was alive have been adapted into a manga by Kohagi Botan of Sakura Production, who was Sakura's assistant for many years. The work will be serialized irregularly.
The first episode of the irregular series is "Let's Freshen Up, Johnny," and tells the story of the memories of Johnny, a mysterious classmate of Coji-Coji who lives in the fairy tale country. Kohagi commented, "It's been a while since I've written a manga work, but I hope that both those who already know the unique world of Coji-Coji created by Sakura Momoko-sensei, which is sometimes relaxing and sometimes philosophical, and those who don't, will enjoy it and laugh or be surprised. Please continue to support Coji-Coji!!"
"Coji-Coji" was serialized in "Kimi to Boku" (Sony Magazines, currently out of publication) from 1994 to 1997, and was also published in "Fujisan" (Shinchosha) and "Ribon." The story depicts a nonsensical world woven by charming characters, with the mysterious space child Coji-Coji at the center. An anime TV series aired from 1997 to 1999.
The issue comes with an Angel Hair Accessory Set as an attachment. Also featured are interviews with Donuku from the popular game commentary group Colorful Peach, comedy duo Beni Shouga, and essayist Ito Awa, as well as a conversation between Watanabe Miho and Kimura Masaya, who co-star in the live-action film Atashi no!.
