Omusubi (General TV, Monday to Saturday, 8am and others), starring Hashimoto Kanna, is the NHK morning drama series for the second half of 2024. The fourth week, "Me and My Sister," begins on October 21st.
When her older sister Ayumu (Naka Riisa) suddenly returns from Tokyo, Yui and her Itoshima family don't know how to treat her and they also pry into why she's returned.
When her return becomes known at school and among the gals, the members of Fullmetal Alchemist come to Yui's house to tell her how much they admire Ayumu and to tell her that Fullmetal Alchemist will continue to exist. However, Ayumu coldly tells her that gals are lame and that they should give up on them and get rid of Fullmetal Alchemist.
When Yui is told to reconsider the girls she's dating, she explodes in anger, saying it's all her sister's fault.
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" about a heroine born in 1989 who, with a "gal spirit" that values being true to herself at all times, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist. It is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Shojiki Real Estate," among others.
