On October 19th, it was revealed that the TV anime "Blue Miburo", based on a manga about the Shinsengumi by Takeshi Yasuda, who is known for the soccer manga "DAYS", will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons. The anime will be broadcast every Saturday at 5:30 pm on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV from October 19th.

The first episode begins with the protagonist, Nio, meeting Toshizo Hijikata, Souji Okita, and others. It depicts an ordinary 13-year-old boy deciding to join the Miburo.

In preparation for the broadcast of the first episode, Shuuichirou Umeda, who plays the main character Nio, commented, "The main character is a boy named 'Nio' whose name has not been recorded in history, but who may have actually existed. What path will he walk? I would like to watch it together with everyone."

Producer Hiroya Nakata said, "I think there are several Shinsengumi entertainment works that have imprinted the image of the Shinsengumi in the hearts of Japanese people, such as Ryotaro Shiba, Jiro Asada, and historical dramas. Blue Miblo will be one of those works that will imprint the image of the Shinsengumi in the hearts of viewers! Please look forward to it!"

Blue Miblo has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) since 2021. Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period, it depicts the way of life of the Shinsengumi. The story is about a boy named Chirinunio who is honest, kind, and family-oriented, but deep in his heart he burns with justice, and meets Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Souji of the Mibu-nami, a group of hated ronin.

The anime will be directed by Kumiko Habara, who has worked on "I'm Standing on a Million Lives," and produced by MAHO FILM.
