It has been announced that Takeuchi Shunsuke, Eguchi Takuya, and Irino Miyu will appear as voice actors in the new animated film "The Rose of Versailles" (directed by Yoshimura Ai, scheduled for release on January 31, 2025), based on the classic manga by Ikeda Riyoko. Takeuchi will play the role of Alain de Soissons, Eguchi the role of Florian de Gelodel, and Irino the role of Bernard Châtelet, each playing one of the three characters who influenced Oscar François de Jarjayes.

Takeuchi, who plays Alan, a member of the guards whose sword skills are so impressive that even Oscar respects him, commented, "I'm really excited that a new animation has been made this time, and that it will also feature songs. I previously visited the Palace of Versailles on a trip, so I recorded what I felt there, the scents, and the historical background, and tried to incorporate that into Alan. Please look forward to the new charm of the Rose of Versailles, which will be created through an initiative unique to the Reiwa era."

Eguchi, who plays Jelodel, Oscar's adjutant when she was captain of the guards, said, "I'm honored to be involved in the historic Rose of Versailles! I played Jelodel with great care, focusing on the choices he makes amidst his conflicts. Thank you for your support."

Irino, who plays Bernard, a journalist in Paris, commented, "I am honored to be a part of this historic work. I think it is rare for an anime to be produced that incorporates song. I hope you can feel the fighting spirit of Bernard, who leads the poverty-stricken citizens and throws himself into the revolution. I hope you will look forward to this new form of The Rose of Versailles!".

"The Rose of Versailles" is a masterpiece manga by Ikeda that was serialized in "Weekly Margaret" (Shueisha) from 1972 to 1973. It is set during the French Revolution in the late 18th century and beautifully depicts the love and life of Oscar, a beautiful woman who dresses as a man, and Marie Antoinette, an innocent queen who came to France from neighboring Austria.

The animated film will be directed by Yoshimura, who has worked on "Ao Haru Ride" and "Cheer Boys!!". Sawano Hiroyuki, who has worked on "Attack on Titan", will serve as music producer, and Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto will be in charge of the music. The series will be produced by MAPPA, known for "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man."
