The 39th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "Hikaru Kimi e" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, aired on October 13th, depicting the final moments of Ise, played by Miura Shohei.
In the 39th episode, Empress Shoshi (Migami Ai) gives birth to a second prince. As the intentions of the nobles intertwine over the next emperor, Michinaga (Emoto Tasuku) begins to think about the birth of an emperor of his own bloodline.
Then rumors of the deteriorating health of Ise (Miura Shohei), who was Michinaga's enemy, spread throughout the palace...
His resentment towards Michinaga did not fade, and although he left behind the words "Do not obey the Minister of the Left" to his eldest son Michimasa (Fukusaki Nayuta), in his final moments, he was slain by his father Michitaka (Iura Arata) and mother Takako (Itaya Yuka). And Ise left this world thinking of his younger sister Sadako (Takahata Mitsuki).
Miura said of playing the role to the fullest, "The drop from his bright youth, and especially the performance after his downfall, was much tougher than I had imagined," reflecting, "I used up all my physical, mental and nervous energy."
On the other hand, he also expressed a sense of fulfillment, saying, "As an actor, I enjoyed being able to give my all to play the insane Ise, whose only source of support was cursing others."
He also appealed to viewers, saying, "Mr. Ise has passed away earlier than us, but the world of 'To You,' will continue, so please enjoy it until the end."
