To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the broadcast of the popular anime Space Battleship Yamato, episodes 1 to 5 of the HD remastered version of the TV series have been made available for free on YouTube. The TV series has been made available for free in response to the start of Star Channel's "Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Special" in October.
A three-hour special program will be broadcast on October 13th from 5:30 pm as a "Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Special Programming," including the 4K Remastered Movie, which was released in theaters last December. It will also be broadcast simultaneously on BSJapanext. This is the first time that the 4K Remastered Movie will be broadcast for free on TV.
The special program will feature guests such as Yamato fan director Takashi Yamazaki, comedian Masaru Hamaguchi of the comedy duo Yoiko, film writer Masami Yoshihiro, and talent Saya Ichikawa. The program is soliciting submissions on social media, such as "Who is your favorite character from the Space Battleship Yamato series?" and "What is your favorite scene from the Space Battleship Yamato series?"
Space Battleship Yamato [HD Remastered Version], Space Battleship Yamato 2, Space Battleship Yamato III, Space Battleship Yamato: Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato, Warriors of Love, 4K Remaster, Space Battleship Yamato: A New Voyage [HD Remastered Version], Yamato Forever [HD Remastered Version], Space Battleship Yamato: Final Chapter [HD Remastered Version], Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection, Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection Director's Cut, Space Battleship Yamato 2 Compilation, and Space Battleship Yamato III: Catastrophe of the Solar System will also be broadcast.
