A special exhibition on the popular anime series "Gundam" called "Gundam Next Future Science Exhibition - For a prosperous life in the future" will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) from October 3rd. This special exhibition allows visitors to experience a future where the spectacular worldview of the "Gundam" series is fused with cutting-edge science and technology. It will also feature exhibits on themes such as "Can beam sabers be made with modern science?", "How is Gundarium alloy made?" and "A prototyping project for a new piloted robot for the social implementation of mobile suits (MS)". It will run until October 22nd.

The opening ceremony was held on October 2nd, and President and CEO Makoto Asanuma of Bandai Namco Filmworks, which produces the "Gundam" series, said, "Gundam has themes of human growth and the importance of peace, but it also shows what will become of humanity through science and how science will evolve. I would like many people, especially children, to see it. I hope that they will become interested in science through Gundam."

The exhibition will link the world of anime to real-world space development and technology, show future possibilities, and introduce how the technology and settings of the world of anime have influenced real-world researchers and become a driving force for realization.

The Gundam series depicts life in space, and space colonies and other space technologies will be exhibited from the perspectives of "space," "environment," and "technology." The latest robotics technology will be introduced to show the technical aspects of mobile suits. Visitors can also enjoy the experience of operating robots inspired by the Gundam series. There will also be a technical verification of "food" and "living" in space.

The technology behind the life-sized moving Gundam, which stands at a height of about 18 meters and was installed in Yokohama, will also be introduced. The hands of the life-sized moving Gundam will also be on display, and visitors can play rock-paper-scissors with it.

There will also be a special course, the Gundam Open Innovation Science Course, and a workshop to foster the fun of manufacturing and creativity through the experience of assembling Gunpla (plastic models). Admission is 950 yen for adults, 600 yen for junior and senior high school students, and 500 yen for children (ages 4 and over).
