After school, the heroine Yui (Hashimoto) is suddenly surrounded by gals, expecting to be beaten up, but she is instead invited to join a gal group called the Hakata Gals Union (Hagaren). She learns that her older sister Ayumu (Naka Riisa) was the first representative of Hagaren and was a charismatic leader among the gals.
When Yui gets home, she tells her family about the gals at dinner, but an unexpected argument breaks out between her father Masato (Kitamura Yukiya) and grandfather Nagayoshi (Matsudaira Ken).
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" about a heroine born in 1989 who, with a "gal spirit" that values being true to herself at all times, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist. It is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Honest Real Estate," among others.
