The uncut, uncredited opening video for "Omusubi," the NHK morning drama series starring actress Hashimoto Kanna that began airing on September 30th in the second half of 2024, was released on the NHK official YouTube channel on the same day.
The video shows Hashimoto dancing energetically amidst pop illustrations to the theme song "Illumination," written by B'z specifically for the series. The video is directed by Tamukai Jun, known for his innovative and pop video work, including Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's music videos, and the choreography is by TAKAHIRO, who has worked as a backup dancer for Madonna. The video is adorned with illustrations by illustrator Sanremo.
"Omusubi" is the 111th NHK morning drama series. The heroine, Yoneda Yui (Hashimoto), was born on the day the era name changed to "Heisei". After growing up as a gal in Fukuoka, she moves to Kansai to become a registered dietitian after a certain incident... This is a "Heisei youth graffiti". It is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Honest Real Estate".
B'z's "Illumination" will be available on major music download and streaming services from October 7th. Prior to this, it will be available to pre-add (pre-add) on Apple Music and pre-save on Spotify from September 30th.

The choreography for the opening video includes many poses seen in the Heisei era. There are poses from gyaru culture, as well as poses inspired by Heisei anime. The video shows the main character Yui's cheerful smile along with the heart-warming music of B'z. I'm very happy to be a part of this production. I hope it brings you energy in the morning!
