76-year-old rakugo performer Katsura Yonesuke will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), broadcasting at 1pm on September 30th.
His master, Katsura Yonemaru, passed away in August at the age of 99. After graduating from high school, Yonemaru immediately became his apprentice. He will talk about anecdotes with his master, such as how when he first began training, he was told that his hair was too long, so he shaved it and looked so bad that he was mistaken for a kidnapper.
After getting divorced nine years ago, he is now living with his new partner in the suburbs, surrounded by abundant nature. There are many vegetable gardens in the neighborhood, and he is enjoying his second life to the fullest, often receiving vegetables from residents and observing fireflies, which are rare in the city.
