In 2004, Yoneda Yui (Hashimoto), who lives with her father Masato (Kitamura Yukiya), who runs a farm in Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture, her mother Aiko (Aso Kumiko), grandfather Nagayoshi (Matsudaira Ken), and grandmother Kayo (Miyazaki Yoshiko), has entered high school. When talking about club activities with her childhood friend Yota (Sugao Araki) and classmate Emi (Nakamura Moriri), Yota says he will join the baseball club and Emi says she will join the calligraphy club, but Yui can't think of any club she particularly wants to join.
Yui is then faced with an unexpected situation at the fishing port where she often goes to see the sea after school.
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" about a heroine born in 1989 who, with a "gal spirit" that values being true to herself at all times, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist. It is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Shojiki Real Estate," among others.
