It has been announced that the first Osaka performance of the cinema concert of "Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege," the sixth movie version of the TV anime "Gegege no Kitaro," based on the manga by the late Shigeru Mizuki, will be held at the Festival Hall (Kita-ku, Osaka) on November 30th. The cinema concert was held at Bunkamura Orchard Hall (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on August 10th and 11th, and tickets sold out in one day. It was so well received that a repeat performance at the same venue was also decided for November 9th and 10th. The Osaka performance will be held on November 30th, which is also the anniversary of Mizuki's death.

The dialogue and sound effects from the anime will be preserved, but the orchestra will perform live to accompany the footage, and you can also enjoy a talk by Kenji Kawai, who was in charge of the music. There will be two performances, a daytime and an evening performance. Advance ticket sales have started at Lawson Ticket. General sales will begin on October 19th.

The film was released to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mizuki's birth. This is the first time in about 15 years that a feature-length film version of "GeGeGe no Kitaro" will be released since "GeGeGe no Kitaro: Japan Explodes!!," which was released in December 2008 as the feature-length version of the fifth season of the TV anime. The film tells the story of Kitaro's fathers for the first time, with Kitaro's father (formerly known as Medama Oyaji) and Mizuki as the main characters. It was released on November 17, 2023, and was a hit, earning over 2.78 billion yen in box office revenue. It was also a hot topic after being selected for the Outstanding Animation Award at the 47th Japan Academy Awards.

The film, "Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of GeGeGe: The Real Version," which has improved the quality of the video and sound, will be released on October 4.
