It has been announced that Hanazawa Kana will be appearing as a voice actress in the TV anime "Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsukasa," which is based on the romantic comedy manga by Kuze Ran currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha). Hanazawa will play the heroine Haruno Tsubomi, who is a big fan of one of the heroines, Kawai Mona. A promotional video featuring the heroines Mona, Shonan Asahi, and Tsubomi has been released on YouTube. Hanazawa commented, "I will be voicing Haruno Tsubomi, a classmate who is crazy about Mona! She's a naturally laid-back girl, but when it comes to Mona, she has a side to her that makes her lose sight of everything else. As someone who is also captivated by Mona's cuteness, I am playing the role while synchronizing my heart with Tsubomi's extreme excitement. Let's all smile as we watch the bittersweet romance of high school students!" The story was first published as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Magazine in December 2020, and following a favorable reception, began serialization in the magazine in May 2021. It is a romantic comedy about Kawai Mona, a beautiful, stylish and popular girl, and Kuroiwa Medaka, a transfer student and "celibate boy." The story depicts Mona's struggles to win over Medaka, who doesn't pay her any attention.
The anime will be directed by Okumura Yoshiaki and produced by SynergySP. Iwasaki Ryota will play Kuroiwa Medaka, and Serizawa Yu will play Kawai Mona. It will air in 2025.
