On July 30th, it was revealed that actor Go Ayano will appear in "Doctor X: The Movie" (directed by Naoki Tamura, to be released on December 6th), which depicts episode zero of the medical drama starring Ryoko Yonekura. He will play Kono Akihiko, a key figure who was a fellow student of Daimon Michiko, played by Yonekura, and is the only person who knows Michiko's unknown past.

Kano runs a clinic in Kure, Hiroshima, as a private practitioner, and meets Morimoto Hikaru (played by Kei Tanaka), who visits the clinic to investigate Michiko's roots. Ayano commented, "I worked with director Naoki Tamura on my debut as an actor, and I was also very grateful to producer Seiko Uchiyama and star Ryoko Yonekura for helping me out in other works. I was also able to work with Kei for the first time in 10 years, and it was like a reward to see another connection that comes true as an actor."

The story of the movie reveals the "secret of the birth" of the protagonist, the solitary genius surgeon Michiko Daimon (played by Yonekura). The cast will include Tanaka, who plays Morimoto, a familiar character from the drama series, Uchida Yuki as Jonouchi Hiromi, Imada Mio as Oma Masako, Katsumura Masanobu as Kaji Hideki, Suzuki Kosuke as Hara Mamoru, Endo Kenichi as Ebina Kei, Kishibe Ittoku as Kanbara Akira, and Nishida Toshiyuki as Hiruma Shigekatsu. The script was written by Nakazono Miho.
