Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that it will release the high-performance model of the PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro), on November 7th at a price of 119,980 yen. The PS5 Pro will be equipped with a 2TB SSD for storage and will support the latest wireless communication technology, Wi-Fi 7. It will not have a disc drive, but will also support the installation of an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.

The PS5 Pro has 67% more compute units than the current PS5 GPU. GPU memory is also 28% faster. This will improve rendering speed during gameplay by up to 45%, allowing for a smoother playing experience.

In addition, the evolved ray tracing function will significantly enhance the expression of light reflection and refraction, allowing light rays to be projected at two to three times the speed of the conventional PS5. In addition, the system will introduce the AI technology-based PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which will significantly improve the details of the image, resulting in extremely clear visuals.

The exterior of the PS5 Pro follows the design of the PS5 family, and while it is the same height as the original PS5 and the same width as the currently sold PS5, it has higher performance specifications.

Many titles will receive free software updates to take advantage of the PS5 Pro's features, and the titles that will be included can be identified by the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" notation. Titles that will be updated include "Alan Wake 2," "Assassin's Creed: Shadows," "Demon's Souls," "Dragon's Dogma 2," "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH," "Gran Turismo 7," "Hogwarts Legacy," "Horizon Forbidden West," "Marvel's Spider-Man 2," "Ratchet & Clank: Parallel Trouble," "The Crew: Motorfest," "THE FIRST DESCENDANT," and "The Last of Us Part II Remastered."

Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro in Japan will begin at 10:00 a.m. on September 30th.
