"Drama 1 Week" brings you the latest drama news from the week. This time (August 31st to September 6th) we cover the topics of a live-action TV adaptation of "Wingman," a popular manga published by Masakazu Katsura in the 1980s, and the reboot of the drama series "Minna no Ouji," which aired in July 2015 starring Kenichi Endo and Masaki Suda, after a nine-year hiatus, to be aired in October as "Minna no Ouji R." We'll cover these topics in two parts.

It was announced on August 31st that the drama series "Minna no Ouji" (TV Asahi), which aired in July 2015 starring Kenichi Endo and Masaki Suda, will be rebooted after a nine-year hiatus, to be aired in October as "Minna no Ouji R" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm). The "R" in the title stands for "Renewal," "Return," and "Reboot," and Endo will continue to play the lead role as Prime Minister Muto Taizan. In "Mino Ou R," Taizan, who is considering retiring from politics, is once again approached by the Prime Minister, and just then, a "switch" occurs. This time, the switch is with the entire nation, and in each episode, someone randomly switches places with Taizan.

On the 31st, it was revealed that Jesse from the popular group "SixTONES" will appear in the October drama series "Monster" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm), starring Shuri. He will play Sugiura Yoshihiro, a young lawyer at the law firm where Kannami Ryoko, the monster lawyer played by Shuri, is employed. Sugiura is an honest and hardworking person who graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law. As a senior lawyer, he tries to teach Ryoko "common sense," but Ryoko doesn't listen, and is instead at the mercy of his overwhelming drive and ability to break through.

The entire cast of the TV Asahi drama series "Densetsu no Atama Sho" (Fridays at 11:15 p.m., excluding some regions), starring Takahashi Fumiya, has finished filming, and the wrap-up photos were released on the 31st. Takahashi, who took on the challenge of playing two roles, said, "I was excited to play both an otaku and a delinquent. However, the more I did it, the more I thought, 'Oh, this is bad, this is really difficult!' (laughs). From the beginning, it was a battle with myself." Then, when he said, "I don't think I have any compromises or regrets about every minute and second I spent on this work," Takahashi cried big tears from his eyes, and the set was filled with emotion.

It was revealed on September 2nd that Miyase Ryubi will be starring in "Snowdrop's First Love," which will begin airing on KTV/Fuji TV's "Ka Dora★Eleven" (Tuesdays at 11pm) from October 1st. This will be Miyase's first lead role in a serial drama. The heroine will be played by Ono Karin, who will be co-starring with Miyase for the first time. The drama follows Kataoka Sakuya (Miyase), a grim reaper who descends to the human world for the first time, as he meets Mochizuki Nayuki (Ono), who lost her father at a young age and has dedicated her life to raising her younger brother, and the two gradually become attracted to each other. However, a fate that will greatly change their lives awaits the two of them... This is the story of a love story.

Fuji TV announced its program lineup for October on September 2nd. It was announced on the 2nd that the Friday 9pm drama slot, in which "Billion x School" is currently airing, will be moved to Tuesdays at 9pm. The "Friday 9" time slot, which was revived for the first time in about 54 years in October last year and has aired "My Lawyer is Troublesome," "Hospital Police," "The Yips," and "Billion x School," will end after only one year. The first drama to be revived at 9pm on Tuesdays will be the detective drama "Okura," co-starring actors Takashi Sorimachi and Yosuke Sugino. A new variety show, "The Common Ten!", will start in the Friday 9pm slot, with Hiromi and Chiaki Horan as hosts and the comedy duo Chocolate Planet as hosts.

It was announced on the 2nd that the NHK morning drama "Wings of the Tiger," starring Sari Ito, has wrapped up filming. Looking back on the 11 months of filming, Ito, who plays the main character Torako, revealed her feelings, saying, "I really can't imagine not being Torako from tomorrow." She continued, "Many people tell me that starring in a morning drama is the hardest, but when I think about being able to create a work with the staff and cast on set, I always feel like a fun day is about to begin, and I couldn't help but feel happy."

On the 3rd, it was announced that Kikuchi Fuma of the three-member group "timelesz" will star in the drama "The Reason We Fall in Love," which will be aired on TV Asahi's "Oshidora Saturday" (Saturday 11:00 p.m.) slot starting on October 12. This will be Kikuchi's first time starring in a drama on the same station, and in a complete departure from his comical appearance on variety shows, he will "seal" his smile and take on a new challenge with a silent and cool role. The heroine, Aoi, will be played by model and actor Kumada Rinka. The drama is based on the manga of the same name by ma2, which won the grand prize in the adult romance category at the "2nd Minna no Oshi Renai Manga Taisho" (2023). The story depicts the "adult love" that unfolds between six men and women in an office.

On the 3rd, it was revealed that "Wingman," a popular manga published by Masakazu Katsura in the 1980s, will be made into a live-action TV drama. TV Tokyo, which made a live-action version of Katsura's "Video Girl Ai," has teamed up with Toei Video, well-known for its special effects works, and distribution service "DMM TV." "Wingman" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1983 to 1985. The main character, special effects otaku Hirono Kenta, draws his own hero, "Wingman," in his "Dream Notebook," which makes what he writes come true, and fights monsters as "Wingman." It will be broadcast on TV Tokyo's drama slot "Drama Choose!" (Tuesdays at 12:30 a.m.) from October 22nd. DMM TV will have exclusive unlimited viewing and simultaneous distribution, with the first episode being distributed one week earlier on October 16th.
