The third and final season of the TV anime "Dr.STONE SCIENCE FUTURE," based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), concluded with episode 37, "The Thing That Incites the Future," which aired on June 25th on TOKYO MX and other channels. To commemorate the conclusion of the anime series, which began airing in July 2019, illustrations and comments from the original author, Riichiro Inagaki, and the illustrator, Boichi, have been released. The illustrations feature characters such as Senku Ishigami, with Inagaki commenting, "Thank you for the absolute best anime!!" and Boichi saying, "Thank you for all the love!!"
Kana Hanazawa and Kohei Amasaki, who voiced Whyman, have also provided comments. Hanazawa said, "I voiced one of the key characters, Whyman! Although there are individual differences between them, Whyman was quite a bold character who took an interest in Senku and the others and acted together with them, so I tried to portray him as mysterious yet curious. I was happy to be involved in the final episode of the series♪"
Amasaki said, "I clearly remember being surprised when I was told I would be playing Whyman, thinking, 'Me!?' I am very happy to have been given such a role in the final act of this long-running series. As Amasaki, I appeared in episode 7 of season 3 as a handsome guy who falls in love with Amaryllis, so I was also happy to be back on the set of 'Dr.STONE'."
The illustrations for the limited first-edition digipaks of the final season's Blu-ray and DVD box sets have also been revealed. Character designer Yuko Iwasa drew Senku and the others for the new artwork.
It was also announced that a large-scale exhibition commemorating the anime's conclusion will be held in Tokyo in December. In addition to displaying original animation drawings and setting materials, there are plans for a special exhibit where visitors can experience the world of "Dr. STONE" firsthand.
"Dr.STONE" is a manga series written by Inagaki, the creator of "Eyeshield 21," and illustrated by Boichi, known for "Sun-Ken Rock" and "ORIGIN." It was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from March 2017 to March 2022. The story follows Senku Ishigami, a science-loving boy with a superhuman intellect, who awakens after thousands of years when all of humanity is instantly petrified by a mysterious phenomenon. In this desperate situation, he decides to find his friends and take back the world. Senku uses science to rebuild civilization from scratch. The manga has sold over 20 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from July to December 2019, the second season from January to March 2021, the TV special "Dr.STONE Ryusui" aired in July 2022, the first cour of the third season aired from April to June 2023, and the second cour from October to December of the same year. The final season was split into three cours, with the first cour airing from January to March 2025 and the second cour from July to September of the same year. The third cour, which was the final chapter of the anime, began airing in April and concluded on June 25th.
