Actor Hayato Kakizawa will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs on June 26th at 1 PM.
His great-grandfather, Kiyomoto Shizudayu, was a Joruri narrator, and his grandfather, Kiyomoto Eizaburo, was a shamisen player, making him part of a family of two generations of Living National Treasures. From a young age, he aspired to become a professional soccer player and played for a prestigious high school soccer team. However, after seeing Shiki Theatre Company's "The Lion King" in high school, he was so impressed that he underwent intense training despite having no prior experience, and at the age of 19, he passed the entrance exam to the Shiki Theatre Company's institute.
After leaving the Shiki Theatre Company, he has challenged himself in various genres, including stage productions by Yukio Ninagawa and Koki Mitani, as well as in film and television. He gained attention for his role as Minamoto no Sanetomo in the NHK Taiga drama "The 13 Lords of the Shogun." In recent years, he has won numerous theatre awards, including the Yomiuri Theatre Award for Best Actor and the Kazuo Kikuta Theatre Award. His parents, who were once strongly opposed to him pursuing a career in theatre, now display the trophies he has won on a shelf at their home and are enthusiastic supporters.
