This film is the movie version of the TV drama "Oliver the Dog, (Gosh!!) This Guy," which aired on NHK with season 1 in 2021 and season 2 in 2022. The drama follows the protagonist, police dog clerk Ippei Aoba (Sōsuke Ikematsu), and his partner police dog Oliver (Odagiri), as they tackle cases, while also depicting the various human dramas that unfold in a mysterious town. In the film, super volunteer Konishi (Koichi Sato) goes missing, and Ippei and Oliver begin their investigation alongside charismatic handler Yayoi Hagoromo (Eri Fukatsu) from a neighboring prefecture.
