Naoya Matsumoto's popular manga "Kaiju No. 8," which was serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," will be featured in the July issue of the manga magazine "Saikyo Jump" (Shueisha), which goes on sale June 4th. Matsumoto has drawn the cover illustration for the July issue, and it will come with a mini shikishi-style card and holo stickers (3 types in total) of the popular character Gen Narumi, the "strongest captain" of the Japan Defense Force's 1st Unit, as a bonus.
The magazine will include a quiz page modeled after the entrance exam for the 3rd unit in the story, as well as new information about the original short anime "Narumi's Weekdays."
"Kaiju No. 8" was serialized on "Shonen Jump+" from July 2020 to July 2025. Set in Japan, a monster-filled country where monsters relentlessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino, whose body is transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also gained attention when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Award 2021". The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2024, and the second season aired from July to September 2025. It has also been announced that a "final chapter" of the anime is in production.
It was also announced that a special one-shot of the gag manga "Saba-ko Saikyo Abareru-kun" by manga artist duo "Renoir Brothers" will be published in the July issue of "Saikyo Jump". Comedian Abareru-kun commented, "The best gag survival manga has arrived!! I don't know if it will be useful when push comes to shove?! But I'm sure you'll be rolling with laughter!! Abareru-kun x Survival = Gag Survival!! Read it!!"
