Singer Yoko Kon will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on April 14th at 1 PM. Having achieved massive success at the age of 16 as the vocalist of "Pinky and Killers," she will soon celebrate her 60th anniversary in show business.
Last November, she fell down the stairs at a train station and fractured two ribs. She was in excruciating pain and could barely breathe, but she got up and went home, driven by the thought that "my 99-year-old mother is waiting for me at home." After that, she made arrangements for her mother to be looked after and continued to perform on stage.
On weekdays, her mother attends day care, so she gets up at 6 a.m. every morning to get ready to go out. It takes longer than getting ready herself, but she says that her mother's presence, still able to eat a 150-gram steak, is a source of encouragement for her.
