An event for the TV anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, " based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), was held on March 29th at "AnimeJapan 2026," an event currently taking place at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo). Atsumi Tanezaki , who plays the role of Frieren , cited episode 37, "Himmel's Autobiography," as a particularly memorable scene from the second season of the TV anime, and spoke about its appeal.
In episode 37, "Himmel's Autobiography," there is a scene in which Frieren finds and reads "Himmel's Autobiography," which had been lying dormant in the island's monastery. In the flashback scene of Himmel and Frieren's journey, the perspective shifts from Himmel watching Frieren, Heiter, and Eisen to Frieren watching Himmel. Tanezaki expressed her gratitude, saying, "I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who thought of this and created the animation. As with all anime, I feel the love put into expanding on the original work, and they have done so much that I don't think it could be expanded any further. Thank you so, so much."
Kana Ichinose , who plays Fern , and Chiaki Kobayashi , who plays Stark , appeared at the event. Shinichiro Miki, who played Revolte, made a surprise appearance.
" Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" in April 2020. Frieren, the mage of the hero's party who defeated the Demon King, is an elf and therefore long-lived, but after experiencing the death of her companions, she embarks on a journey "to understand humanity." It was selected for the Manga Taisho Award 2021, the New Artist Award at the 25th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, the 69th (2023) Shogakukan Manga Award, and the Shonen category at the 48th Kodansha Manga Award. The cumulative circulation of the comic books exceeds 35 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" from September 2023 to March 2024. The second season began airing in the same block in January and concluded with its final episode on March 27th. The production of the third season, "The Golden Land Arc," which is scheduled to air on the Nippon Television network from October 2027, has also generated considerable buzz.
