The movie "Doctor X FINAL" (2024), the final installment of the popular drama series "Doctor X" starring Ryoko Yonekura, was broadcast on TV Asahi on March 19th.
The series, which concluded its 12-year run, tells the story of the "secret of birth" of the protagonist, the "never failing" genius surgeon Michiko Daimon (Yonekura). The familiar regular cast members, including Yonekura, Mio Imada Kei Tanaka , Yuki Uchida, Mio Imada, Masanobu Katsumura, Kosuke Suzuki, Kenichi Endo, Ittoku Kishibe, and the late Toshiyuki Nishida, for whom this was his final work, have all reunited.
This was the first time it was broadcast on terrestrial television. There was no on-demand streaming, and it was billed as "the first and last terrestrial broadcast." It generated a lot of excitement, with "#TheatricalVersionDoctorX" trending at number one on X.
After the end credits, a message, seemingly handwritten by Yonekura, was displayed, reading, "Thank you so much for loving Doctor X for so long. I hope we can meet again someday, somewhere. Daimon Michiko."
