The 11th episode of the new TV anime adaptation of Motohide Shinzawa's gag manga "High School! Kimengumi," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in the 1980s, will air on Fuji TV's anime block "Noitamina" at 11:30 PM on March 20th. Voice actor Shigeru Chiba will appear in the 11th episode. Chiba played Rei Ichido in the TV anime that aired from 1985 to 1987, and in this new anime, his first in approximately 39 years, he will play a parallel world version of Rei Ichido who meets the original.
One morning on their way to school, Yui finds herself walking alongside Rei, and they're already running late. Rei suggests they take a shortcut, like a glitch in a video game, and they do just that in reality. However, when they arrive at school, everyone seems different than usual. Confused by Chie and the other class members who seem like completely different people, they are surprised to see another Yui and Rei enter the classroom. Moreover, this other Yui and Rei have completely different personalities and seem to be on very bad terms.
The new anime will be directed by Ryo Seki, known for films such as "Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist's Journey" and "Beethoven Fabrication," and produced by Animation Studio Seven. Tomokazu Seki Ichido, Shunsuke Takeuchi will voice Go Hiyoshi, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will voice Chiaki Kobayashi Kikunosuke Toya Totani will voice Dai Monoboshi.
The original manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1980 as "3-nen Kimengumi," and was retitled "High School! Kimengumi" in 1982 as the characters advanced to higher grades. It is a school comedy featuring the Kimengumi, a group of five famous students who attend a middle school: Ichido Rei, Hiyoshi Go, Dese Kiyoshi, Ooma Jin, and Monoboshi Dai, along with Kawase Yui and Uru Chie.
