It has been announced that "Dorohedoro Season 2," the sequel to the anime "Dorohedoro," based on the manga by Q Hayashida, will be released "almost simultaneously worldwide" on various streaming platforms every Wednesday at 11 PM starting April 1st. A key visual expressing the unique, chaotic worldview has also been released. The voice actors have commented on the sequel's release. This is the first sequel in about six years since the TV anime aired in 2020, and will be directed by Yuichiro Hayashi and produced by MAPPA, following the previous work.
"Dorohedoro" is a dark fantasy that follows a man who loses his memory after his head is transformed into a lizard by magic, and who tries to regain his true identity and memories. It was serialized in manga magazines such as "IKKI," "HiBANA," and "Gessan" (Shogakukan) from 2000 to 2018. An anime adaptation aired on TV from January to March 2020.
◇Comment from Wataru Takagi, who plays Kaiman
To everyone who has been looking forward to the new Dorohedoro series, sorry to have kept you waiting! The sequel is about to begin. Wow, it's been six years. I can once again immerse myself in that world of chaos. I couldn't be happier thinking about meeting those friends again. On the first day of recording, I was excited as I recalled all sorts of things! Everyone hasn't changed. They're still a bit strange (laughs). Huh? I don't remember. I went to the recording, right...huh? It was still...in the midst of chaos. That was...Dorohedoro!
◇Comment from Reina Kondo, who plays Nikaido
The long-awaited release of Season 2 has arrived! As a Dorohedoro fan, I too have been really looking forward to it. Just like Season 1, the atmosphere at the Season 2 dubbing studio was really stimulating and fun, and I gave it my all while savoring my gratitude for being able to be there again as Nikaido. There are more new characters appearing this time, and I think the atmosphere has changed completely. There were so many scenes that you can't miss that I got so absorbed in watching that the first episode ended in a flash. I just can't wait for everyone to see it. Please look forward to it!
◇Comment from Kenyu Horiuchi, who plays Kemuri
I've been looking forward to Dorohedoro Season 2. Expressing Kemuri's personality is truly an actor's joy. All the other characters are fascinating as well. Every recording session was fun. As we enter Season 2, it's even more extreme, deeper and more enjoyable. I'm sure fans will be completely hooked on the charm of Dorohedoro. And so will I, as the character I play... Please look forward to it!
◇Comment from Yoshimasa Hosoya, who plays Kokoro
I'm Hosoya Yoshimasa, the voice of the heart in the anime "Dorohedoro." It's a very interesting work, with a stateless worldview that feels like this is what happens when you create "Dorohedoro" using the medium of animation. While the worldview is impossible in reality, it feels real and vivid, with depictions that are full of explosive energy, so I found dubbing it very enjoyable and rewarding. I'm looking forward to this work reaching Japanimation fans not only in Japan but all over the world. Please check it out.
◇Comment from Kobayashi Yu, who plays Noi
Congratulations on the announcement of Season 2 of the Dorohedoro anime! I've been hoping for a sequel for a long time, so I was really happy when I heard about the production. I'm overwhelmed with emotion to have the opportunity to once again play my beloved Noi-san in the wonderful world of Dorohedoro. I'm truly grateful to everyone who supports Dorohedoro. I can't wait to live in this chaotic world with Noi-san. I'll turn my gratitude into strength and do my best to act powerfully. Everyone, please look forward to the broadcast.
◇Comment from Takanashi Kengo, who plays Fujita
I'm Takanashi Kengo, the voice of "Fujita"! I'm very happy to be playing Fujita again! And above all, I'm very happy that we'll be able to watch the continuation of the anime "Dorohedoro"! Fujita is well known as the lowest-ranking member of the Smoke family, a kind-hearted wimp, and someone who cares deeply for his friends, but in Season 2 we'll see him scream "Kyaa ...
◇Comment from Miyu Tomita, who plays Ebisu
I'm Tomita Miyu, and I'll be continuing to play Ebisu from Season 1. I can't believe I'm returning to the world of Dorohedoro after so many years! I'm so happy! Ebisu's rampage has been powered up many times over. Every time I do the voice recording, I feel like I'm opening up many drawers within myself that I didn't even know existed. As a fan, I'm looking forward to seeing the characters rampage on screen. Let's have fun together in Season 2!
