According to the movie attendance rankings for the period from January 16th to 18th (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha) released on January 19th, Disney animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard) topped the list for the seventh consecutive week. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted approximately 345,000 people and grossed approximately 481 million yen. Cumulatively, it has attracted 9.52 million people and grossed over 12.9 billion yen.
"National Treasure" (directed by Lee Sang-il), which began screening in IMAX on January 16th, jumped three places from the previous week to second place. It attracted approximately 73,000 viewers over the three-day weekend, bringing its box office revenue to approximately 120 million yen. Cumulatively, it has attracted 13.7 million viewers and grossed over 19.3 billion yen. The Dolby Cinema version will also begin screening on January 23rd.
Among the first-time entries, "Warfare" (directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland), which tells the true story of the escape of eight US special forces soldiers surrounded by the enemy during the Iraq War, came in fourth place; "Ariyoshi's Wall: The Movie Version of the Ad-Lib Taiga '18 People in the Interesting Castle,'" directed by Ariyoshi Hiroiki and adapted from a popular segment of his own TV show, came in seventh; and "28 Years Later... The Temple of Skeletons," the fourth installment in the series depicting a life-risking survival thriller for humans and infected people, came in eighth.
"The Last Man -First Love-" (directed by Shunichi Hirano), which is in its fourth week of release, dropped one place from the previous week to third place, attracting approximately 71,000 people and earning approximately 98 million yen over the three-day weekend. In total, it has attracted over one million people and grossed over 1.3 billion yen.
The movie version of "Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter - The Last Attack" (directed by Hayashi Yuichiro), the final chapter of the TV anime "Attack on Titan" based on the popular manga by Isayama Hajime, began screening on January 16th and ranked 9th.
