Comedian Oideyasu Oda attended a press conference in Tokyo on January 14th for the drama "50 Minute Lover" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 10:15pm), which starts on the 18th. He made a strong remark to ABC TV announcer Onita Misaki, who was the host of the show.
The film stars Hey! Say! JUMP's Kei Inoo and Honoka Matsumoto in a romantic comedy about two mismatched people: an eccentric handsome guy whose only friend is an AI, and a down-to-earth girl obsessed with her work. They enter into a strange contract and develop a relationship that lasts just 50 minutes during their lunch break. Oda plays Daisuke Yoneda, the boss of the protagonist Haru Amami (played by Inoo), and Onita plays Sakura Osake, a junior colleague of Haru.
At the press conference, a message was sent from the band HY, who performed the theme song "Swing Swing Heart," to which Oda commented, "I listened to it, and it's a really great song on its own, and being the theme song for the drama makes the visuals even more transparent, so I think it's a perfect fit."
When Onita asked, "Does it seem to suit Oda's acting as well?", Oda suddenly changed his attitude and replied, "What are you talking about? You're grinning!" His co-stars responded with comments like, "Too scary," "Horrifying," and "The best combination," which caused laughter.
Onita, who was not fazed by the strong comments, shared an episode saying, "Oda-san has been quite kind to me. He even told me about a good yakiniku restaurant," to which Oda blushed and laughed, saying, "He asks me about it." Ino-san then chimed in, saying, "This is where the excitement begins."
