On December Getsuku, singer-songwriter Yuya Ozaki held a concert titled "OZAKI PLAYS OZAKI 2." at Tokyo International Forum Hall C (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), with a setlist consisting entirely of songs by his father, Yutaka Ozaki. It has been announced that the concert will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW in February 2026.
Yuya debuted in 2016. On Father's Day, June 16, 2024, he held a performance called "OZAKI PLAYS OZAKI" at EX Theater Roppongi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) with the concept of continuing to sing Yutaka's songs. The performance featured songs from Yutaka's first, second, and third albums, released when he was a teenager, and the band members were musicians who had a deep connection with his father when he was alive. The guest appearance of Ishizaki Huwie, a close friend who admired Yutaka and had collaborated with Yuya before, also attracted attention.
A performance in China will also be held in August 2025, which will mark the 60th anniversary of Yutaka's birth. The second concept live, "OZAKI PLAYS OZAKI 2.", will be held in Osaka on December 5th and in Tokyo on December 9th, with the Tokyo performance being broadcast and streamed on WOWOW.
Additionally, the complete version of "LIVE CORE," Yutaka's only Tokyo Dome concert, will be broadcast and streamed next March. This concert was held as a one-off performance on September 12, 1988, to coincide with the release of his fourth album, "Gairoju," and drew a record-breaking 56,000 fans. This complete version includes all 26 tracks, including recordings that were not included in the 1989 live video "LIVE CORE" due to copyright issues. This monumental live video was released in 2013 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his death.
WOWOW has been broadcasting and streaming a series of special programs entitled "Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Yutaka Ozaki's Birth" since November this year. The special programs for December and January next year are as follows:
"Ozaki Yutaka Another Reality "LIVE + DOCUMENTARY"" (December 25th, 10pm, WOWOW Live/WOWOW On Demand): A documentary featuring concert footage from the "BIRTH TOUR" held at Koriyama Civic Cultural Center (Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture) on August 27th, 1991, as well as interview footage with Ozaki himself.
"Ozaki Yutaka: Promise Day 1991" (January 18th, 2019, 7:30 PM, WOWOW Prime, WOWOW On Demand): This will be a live broadcast of the final day of the "BIRTH TOUR," "Promise Day THE DAY," held at Yoyogi Olympic Pool (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on October 30th, 1991. This was Ozaki's last concert before his death, and the last song he sang was "Dance Hall," which he performed exclusively on the final day.
