It was revealed on December 7th that Kazuki Kitamura will be appearing as UNBOUND (Berabou) Yumebanashi" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama . The subtitle of the final episode is "Tsutajue Eika no Yumebanashi" (Tsutajue Eika no Yumebanashi), and it will be broadcast on December 14th.
Kitamura plays Motoori Norinaga, a Japanese scholar whom Tsutaju (Yokohama) visits. Tsutaju visits him in Matsusaka, Ise, in an attempt to promote Norinaga's writings in Edo, but... In real life, he studied the Kojiki, Japan's oldest surviving historical book, and wrote the Kojikiden. He also worked as a doctor.
Kitamura commented, "I heard from a friend that ' UNBOUND' was interesting, so I started watching it on demand, and before I knew it, I was deeply drawn into the story as a viewer. I was very surprised to receive an offer to appear in the show. Motoori Norinaga was a medical and Japanese scholar known for deciphering the 'Kojiki', and I was very interested in and impressed by his thoughts and life. It's been a while since I last took part in a taiga drama, but it was an exciting role that I thoroughly enjoyed."
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama and depicts the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have laid the foundations for Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, who is known for her work on the highly talked-about "Drama 10: Ooku," which aired on NHK two years ago.
