It has been announced that the TV anime " The Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, " based on a popular light novel published on the novel submission site " Shosetsuka ni Naro ," will begin airing on TOKYO MX, BS Asahi, and WOWOW from January 4, 2026. A key visual featuring the main characters, including the protagonist Kunon Geryon, a blind genius magician, has been released. The accompanying copy reads, "We will definitely create eyes with magic."
Additional cast members have also been announced, including Nobunaga Shimazaki as Jennier Causse, Kunon's magic teacher, and Shimazaki Nobunaga as the royal magician, Zeonley Finroll.
Yamaguchi commented, "Jennie appears as Kunon's teacher, but she recognizes his superior talent early on and struggles to find something to teach him. She is a hard worker, and it's admirable how she strives to improve herself. Her slightly pitiful side is also endearing. Her witty wit is also impressive!"
Shimazaki said of Zeonly, "He's my master. He's quite an unconventional, free-spirited and talented person, but even though he's often at the mercy of Kunon, who is even more free-spirited, he's still a great man who can remain my master. He says a lot of things, but ultimately he has a strong sense of mastery towards Kunon."
The work is a light novel written by Minamino Umikaze and illustrated by Laruha. It is a fantasy "magical quest" story about Kunon, a blind genius magician who delves into the study of magical tools and magic, striving towards his goal of "creating eyes through magic." Seven volumes of the light novel have been published by Kadokawa Books (KADOKAWA), and the comic adaptation has also gained popularity.
The anime will be directed by Hideaki Ohba and produced by Platinum Vision. Saori Hayami will play Kunon Geryon, Maaya Uchida will play Kunon's maid, Iko Round, and Akari Kito will play Kunon's fiance, the ninth princess, Milica.
