It has been announced that the TV anime "The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch," based on the latest work by Yosuke Kaneda, known for the manga "Boarding School Juliet," will be broadcast on the CBC TV/TBS anime slot "Agaru Anime" every Sunday at 11:30 pm starting in April 2026. The first key visual and promotional video, featuring apprentice witches Spica Virgo and others, have been released.
Twelve additional cast members have also been announced. They will play students from the Claude Coven, the homeroom teacher of the magician Claude Sirius at the Royal Diana Magic School, including Fuka Izumi Izumi as Aria Aquarius, Minori Suzuki as Mellow Pisces, Azusa Tachibana as Yu Aries, Haruka Shiraishi as Io Taurus, Yuto Uemura as Castor Gemini, Shoya Ishige as Pollux Gemini, Shoya Ishige as Tarph Cancer, Fairouz Ai as Leo Regulus, Tomohiro Ono as Hana Sasorijou, Kazuki Ura as Chiron Sagittarius Aradia, and Miyuki Sakurai as Capella Capricorn.
It was also announced that singer ASCA will be performing the opening theme (OP) "Cusp."
The manga has been serialized on the web service Magazine Pocket (Kodansha) since March 2022. The story follows Spica Virgo, an apprentice witch who cannot use magic and needs a master to get into the magic school of her dreams. However, she has neither money nor connections, and when a mysterious black cat appears who can speak human language and use magic, they form a secret master-disciple relationship.
The anime will be directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa and produced by Liden Films, and will star Kaede Hondo as Spica Virgo, an apprentice witch, and Nobunaga Shimazaki Shimazaki as Claude Sirius, a magician who is turned into a cat by a curse.

◇ Fuka Izumi, who plays Aria Aquarius
I'm Fuka Izumi, and I'll be playing the role of Aria Aquarius! Each character has a very strong personality, and there are both slapstick funny scenes and serious battle scenes, so I think the anime is a lot of fun, staying true to the original! Aria doesn't really show her true feelings, so it can be hard to understand, but I'll do my best to be sympathetic to her and play her in a cheeky yet cute way!
◇Minori Suzuki, who plays Mellow Pisces
I'll be playing Mellow! My name is Suzuki Minori. What will happen when the cute and chaotic Mellow meets the members of the Claude Coven, who all have very unique personalities? Even at the recording studio, there's a clash of personalities! I feel like there's a battle that can't be lost in every episode...! (laughs) Please look forward to the broadcast.
◇ Azusa Tachibana, who plays Yu Aries
I'm Azusa Tachibana, and I'll be playing the role of Yuu Aries! Claude Coven is a really fun classroom with a wide variety of personalities. I'm honored to be able to take part in this production as a member of such a classroom. Yuu is the ultimate free spirit who is always sleeping and doesn't like to do anything. I hope you'll pay attention to the changes in Yuu that will become apparent throughout the story!
◇Haruka Shiraishi, who plays Io Taurus
I'm Shiraishi Haruka, and I'll be playing the role of Io! Io is a kind girl with a soft and gentle demeanor, and I think she's the soothing presence of the Claude Coven. Her magic is Taurus magic, which makes her body grow larger. She's strong and reliable, but when her clumsy side gets activated with her large body, it can get quite tricky... That's what makes her so cute, so I'll do my best to play her so that everyone will fall in love with her in the anime! Thank you!
◇ Yuto Uemura, who plays Castor Gemini
I'm Uemura Yuto, and I'll be voicing Castor Gemini. Castor has red hair and piercings, and looks intimidating, but he's a good man who cares for his younger sister. I'm having fun portraying his rough and gentle side. The recording studio, with the voices of the unique characters flying around, is stimulating, and it feels like being in a classroom. I'm Fairouz Ai, and I'll be playing Leo. He's fearless, always at his own pace, and has overwhelming power! Seeing him with such a strong sense of self-confidence gave me a lot of energy through the performance! ◇ Tomohiro Ono, who plays Astraea Libra
I'm Tomohiro Ono, and I'll be playing the role of Astrea Libra. There are a lot of characters with unique personalities, but Astrea is no slouch! I'm Wataya Miho, and I'll be playing Hana Sasorijou. When I first came across the original work, it was so interesting, so passionate, and all the characters were so charming that I was trembling. I'm incredibly happy to be able to live with Hana... I'll cherish and give my all to portray the clumsy but kind-hearted Hana!
◇ Kazuki Ura, who plays Chiron Sagittarius Aradia
Chiron is of royal birth and a noble man, but he is still immature inside and often picks fights with Spica and the people around him, only to be scolded by his aide, Tarph, making him a bit of a cocky man. I hope you will pay attention to how he grows in this story, and to his heartwarming interactions with his coven comrades!
◇ Miyuki Sakurai, who plays Capella Capricorn
I'm Sakurai Miyuki, and I'll be voicing Capella Capricorn. "Serious" is a taboo word for Capella, but she's very caring and even acts as a leader... she is serious after all. I hope to match Capella's seriousness and be serious, sincere, and have fun! I hope to grow together with everyone in my coven. Thank you for your support.
