It has been announced that the fifth season of the TV drama series " Emergency Interrogation Room " starring Yuki Amami (TV Asahi, Thursdays at 9pm) will reach its final chapter with the eighth episode airing on December 11th. The two-part episode depicts a gun explosion that occurred during a shooting training session at a police academy. Takuya Tamayama plays the instructor who supervised the training, Takahiro Takigawa, while Naniwa Danshi's Kazuya Ohashi Naniwa Danshi the student who fired at his classmate, Kentaro Miyamoto. This will be the "final" story of the series, which will conclude with the theatrical release of the movie version, " Emergency Interrogation Room THE FINAL," on the 26th.
Tamayama and Amami have worked together on numerous projects, including the popular drama series "BOSS" (Fuji TV). This time, they will clash in an interrogation room. Takigawa, who appears to be a charismatic instructor at a police academy with no flaws, gradually reveals his dark side after a gun accident occurs with one of his students.
Looking back on the filming, Tamayama commented, "When I first entered the interrogation room, my breathing became heavy even from the beginning, and I almost hyperventilated. I have acted with Amami (Yuki) many times, but it was the first time we had a serious acting session in 12 years, since 'Onna Nobunaga' (2013), so I was nervous." He appealed, "I am appearing as a guest star at the end of the drama series, and I tried to tackle the huge sense of responsibility and tension that weighed on me while I went on set. Please be sure to watch."
Meanwhile, Ohashi has previously co-starred with Amami in the film "Fushigi Dagashiya Zenitendo" (2024), but this is their first time working together on a drama. "As a guest in the final episode of a drama that has been running for 12 years, I wondered if I was the right choice... but on the other hand, I was really looking forward to meeting Amami (Yuki) again. When I actually met her, I was so excited that I hugged her!" he said, expressing his joy at working together again.
To play the role of a suspected police academy student, he dyed his light brown hair black and styled it into a neat short hairstyle. "I told Amami, 'I'm going to dye it black and cut it now!' and she said, 'Go for it!' After that, I sent her before and after photos and she said, 'You look like a fine young man, it's really good. I'm looking forward to meeting you,' which made me very happy," he revealed.
Regarding his role, he said, "The staff sent me a lot of reference videos from the police academy in advance, so I practiced saluting and studied the movements while watching them. This is a role that is full of firsts for me. It's also the first time I've fired a gun, so I hope you'll pay attention to that scene as well," and called on viewers to "see a new Kazuya Ohashi."
