A report from the set of the WOWOW drama "Serial Drama W Sirius no Hansho" (5 episodes), starring former Hey! Say! JUMP member Yuto Nakajima, which will begin airing and streaming on January 10, 2026, was released on December 3rd.
The drama is based on the novel of the same name by popular author Takeaki Daimon (Kadokawa Bunko/KADOKAWA). It depicts the struggle of lawyers who challenge the seemingly impossible challenge of requesting a retrial to save a death row inmate accused of the brutal murder of a family that took place in Gujo Hachiman, Gifu Prefecture, 25 years ago.
The scene that took place on this day was the university laboratory of Higashiyama Sana (Nimura Sawa), which is the base of operations for Team Zero, an organization that works to help those who have been wrongfully convicted, and to which Nakajima plays lawyer Fujishima Shota belongs. The members of Team Zero are visited by Otsubo Shiro (Ayata Toshiki), a lawyer who represented Miyahara Nobuo (Gozu Takeo), who was arrested as the culprit in a crime 25 years ago.
Upon entering the set, Nakajima walked around the room until everything was ready, carefully examining the small items that were placed there. He stopped in front of a group photo of "Team Zero" that was on display, and got up close to check it out.
As the rehearsal began, Nakajima, Nimura, Kaneko Daichi, and Ayada gathered in the room and began talking about how they looked in the group photo and the location of the filming location. The conversation then turned to hairstyles, and as they continued to talk about things like "curly hair..." and "perms...", equipment fell over and a loud noise echoed. Nakajima, who always kept the set cheerful and lively, was the first to say "I'm sorry!" before the staff.
After the shoot, Nakajima immediately went to the monitor to check it. Sometimes he went all the way to the base and talked with director Matsumoto Yusaku while checking the monitor. During filming, the director would often come running to the set to give detailed instructions, and Nakajima was often seen actively consulting with him, showing that each and every scene was carefully crafted.
It was still hot that day, and as the show began, the air conditioner was turned off, causing the temperature inside the room to rise. After a long cut, the cast went outside to cool off in front of the air conditioner, which had been turned on. Nakajima, again, flapped his shirt to keep sweat from getting on his costume, exclaiming, "Wow, it's so cool!" and bringing smiles to everyone around him.
When it was announced that filming would resume, Nakajima came running for some reason. Standing in front of the air conditioner, he commented refreshingly, "Wow, it's hot when you run." Nimura, who arrived after him, was also running for some reason, but apparently got lost on the shortest route from the waiting room to the set. The topic of conversation between takes was, "What is the shortest route from the waiting room to the set?", which sparked a lively discussion.
Filming begins again. Each actor has more lines to say, and here too the director gives detailed instructions, with each actor quietly practicing their lines over and over again. Then, from outside the open window, they hear birdsong and a mysterious electronic beeping sound. While waiting for the sound to stop, Nakajima says to those around him, "We have to be careful too. These are leather chairs, so they make a creaking noise when we move." He always keeps an eye on his surroundings, lightens the mood, and concentrates on his acting during the actual shoot. This was a set that clearly showed Nakajima's attitude as a leading actor.
"Serial Drama W Sirius no Hansho" will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand every Saturday at 10:00 PM starting January 10, 2026. The first episode will be broadcast for free.

Fujishima Shota (Nakajima), a lawyer belonging to "Team Zero," an organization that works to provide relief to victims of false accusations, receives a letter saying, "Trust me, I didn't do it." It is from Miyahara (Gozu), who was sentenced to death 25 years ago for the brutal murder of a family in Gujo Hachiman, Gifu Prefecture. Fujishima sees Miyahara as his own father and feels repulsed and conflicted, but as he begins to investigate the case, he discovers unnatural facts that contradict the prosecution's claims.
However, the obstacle of fingerprint analysis stands in the way of Fujishima and his team, and the head of the Gifu District Public Prosecutors Office, Prosecutor General Hieda Kazunari (Naoto Ogata), also takes action. As Miyahara's execution draws closer, Fujishima, along with Team Zero's young leader Higashiyama Sana (Nimura) and his best friend Yasuno Sosuke (Kaneko), take on the seemingly impossible challenge of requesting a retrial, but...
