It was revealed on November 29th that a new anime series based on the monster movie "Godzilla" will be produced. This unprecedented anime will feature a boy who "possesses the power of Godzilla" as the protagonist, and will be produced by Orange, the studio behind "Godzilla SP (Singular Point)", in collaboration with Igloo Studio, an up-and-coming Thai animation studio. Concept art has also been released, depicting a boy about to fire a "radiant heat ray."
Keiji Ota, Toho's Senior Managing Executive Officer, Head of IP & Animation Division and Chief Godzilla Officer (CGO), commented, "Godzilla has always been a mirror reflecting the times throughout its 70-plus year history since its birth. This film is a first for the series, featuring a boy who possesses the power of Godzilla, and we believe it will be able to portray more deeply both the fear and hope of the current era. As TOHO animation, this is a challenge to step into a new story."
Orange producer Sumiyoshi Waki said, "We hope to reflect that passion even more strongly in this Godzilla film through the techniques and directing we have cultivated so far, including 'Godzilla SP <Singular Point>.' We are also very much looking forward to collaborating with Igloo Studio, an award-winning studio that has worked on numerous anime."
Nat Yossawattananont of Igloo Studio commented, "We are honored to be involved in the Godzilla IP, which has influenced so many people. We hope to be able to project the various thoughts and feelings of people around the world living in this modern era into the Godzilla story."
