The first footage from Disney Animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush and others, opening December 5th) was released on November 29th. The footage showcases the catchphrase "Get on the island!" of the elusive zebra police buddy duo, Zebro Zebraxton (Uchida) and Zebro Zebrowski (Saito), voiced by popular voice actors Yuma Uchida and Soma Saito, whose names contain the character for "horse."
This film is the sequel to "Zootopia," which was released in 2016. The previous film, "Zootopia," was set in Zootopia, a world where animals live in a high-tech civilized society like humans. It depicted Judy meeting Nick and overcoming many challenges together as she grows into a fine police officer. It was the first Disney animation film since "Frozen" to surpass $1 billion in global box office revenue. It was also a huge hit in Japan, grossing over 7.6 billion yen.
In the sequel, Nick, who has successfully graduated from the police academy and become a police officer, and Judy, the first rabbit police officer to do so, team up again to embark on an epic adventure. A new character, Gary the snake (voiced by Hiro Shimono in the Japanese version), will also appear.
The latest footage released shows Judy and Nick as a buddy pair. While the two have progressed from their previous relationship as police officer and con man to becoming an official police buddy pair, things don't seem to be going so well, and they're constantly causing trouble for those around them. Their superior, Chief Bogo, orders them to participate in partner therapy... In a scene where the two discuss their future direction, we see Judy trying to argue with the chief, while Nick tries to get through the situation in his own way. Will the day ever come when these two, polar opposites in race, personality, and values, will they be recognized as "the best buddy pair"? Don't miss the test of their bond.
Also, while his appearance is brief, his zebra cop buddy, a physically strong man who combines humor and coolness, makes a big impact. In the previous film, not only Judy and Nick were featured, but also Clawhauser, the soothing cheetah receptionist at the police station who loves donuts, Mr. Big, the president of a limousine company and the dark boss of Tundra Town, but who is extremely sweet to his daughter, and Flash, the sloth driver's license center employee who is usually incredibly slow-paced but whose personality changes completely when he gets behind the wheel. So, in addition to the zebra cop buddy "Zebros," the new characters in this film are also not to be missed.
