NHK's popular nature program "Darwin Has Come!" (General) will air "Kyushu's First Landing: Fukuoka Living Creature Research Team" from 7:30 pm on November 2nd. Fukuoka is one of Japan's largest cities, but is home to an astonishing number of living creatures, and the program's research team will uncover their secrets.
Fukuoka is one of Japan's largest cities. In fact, it is home to a surprising number of living creatures. The mysterious "mountain" that suddenly appears in the skyscraper district is a paradise for wild birds. Even birds of prey appear, making it the stage for the drama of life.
The endangered migratory bird, the black-faced spoonbill, flies into the river that runs through the residential area. It uses its unique flat beak to survive the winter in the city. The horseshoe crab, a "living fossil," survives on the tidal flats of Hakata Bay.
Why on earth are these creatures in Fukuoka?
